The Ancient Egyptians, whose culture is one of the oldest on earth, reigned supreme in the then-known world. They set out to impress all who entered their kingdom with architecture of staggering proportions, the display of stupendous wealth, and also by wearing breath taking ceremonial accoutrements like this humongous Pharaoh ceremonial dagger. This, together with the concept of ma'at, or balance in the world, reflected the perception that stability derived from the head of state. The ceremonial dagger was simply one more component of the mythology developed in order to focus authority on the seat of power.
These impressive blades, richly decorated and elaborately adorned with familial and cultural symbols, certainly were meant to both represent and project the power of the wearer. Their design and craftsmanship were intended to draw the eye and influence the mind of anyone observing them.
